Hungary - Legislation on the possession and carrying of knives

General Status:

Hungary allows possession of knives but regulates carrying in public spaces.

Restrictions:

Carrying knives with blades longer than 8 cm is prohibited without lawful purpose.

Automatic knives, throwing stars, and certain "combat knives" are restricted.

Warning:

Violations can result in fines up to HUF 50,000 (approx. €140) and criminal prosecution if aggravating circumstances apply.
