THE USEFULNESS OF AN OPINEL KNIFE
Everyone has heard of Opinel knives, which have become legendary by now! Traditionally, the Opinel knife is a pocket knife with a wooden handle that we take everywhere with us. THE OPINEL KNIFE IN DETAIL
Born over a century ago, the Opinel knife is the product of 100% French know-how. The blade is made of stainless steel or carbon steel, depending on the knife. The carbon steel blade is harder and therefore keeps its edge longer, but requires a lot of maintenance. The stainless steel blade is much easier to maintain, but requires more frequent use of a whetstone. The handle is very often made of beech, a rustic touch that is unique to Opinel and gives these knives a certain charm. Pocket knives feature a safety ferrule that holds the knife open when in use, and closed when not in use to prevent injury.
