How to choose a salad bowl

The world of salad bowls is vast, and it's not easy to find your way around! There are many different materials used in their manufacture, and the choice is essentially based on design. Glass salad bowls are the most popular and widely used, as they are transparent and reveal the ingredients inside, bringing color and freshness to the table! It also has the advantage of being a neutral material, so it retains neither the taste nor the odor of food, for healthy use. One salad bowl that is making a dazzling comeback on the culinary scene is the wooden salad bowl. Wood is a noble material and has been used since the dawn of time, recognized for its natural antibacterial properties. You can opt for a bamboo salad bowl, which is resistant, easy to maintain and durable, or an olive wood salad bowl, which brings an authentic style to your table, guaranteeing a real return to your roots. Other rare, noble or exotic woods are also used in the manufacture of salad bowls, such as rubberwood, acacia, oak or walnut, each with its own unique colors and veining, giving you an original salad bowl. Their varied shapes also make for a designer salad bowl that looks like no other. Other materials are also available, such as plastic salad bowls for outdoor use, on picnics or long journeys. Stainless steel salad bowls, on the other hand, are prized by professionals for their high resistance to corrosion and impact, and are ideal for preparing large quantities of food. Less widely used but still worth having: ceramic, porcelain and stoneware salad bowls are rather fragile and not very practical for everyday use.

Which size salad bowl?

The next step in choosing your salad bowl is to decide on its size, and here again, there are numerous models to choose from. For daily green salad lovers, a 30 cm salad bowl is sufficient. If you prefer mixed salads with multiple ingredients, a 40 cm salad bowl is recommended, as it will enable you to mix them well together without getting them all over the place! Large salad bowls are also available, such as the 50cm salad bowl, but these are more suitable for professional use or for large families, as are raviers and cul de poules, which are essentially used for preparation rather than serving. You can also opt for a smaller salad bowl with dimensions ranging from 20 to 25cm, such as the 20cm salad bowl, ideal for 1 to 2 people or for individual portions. Finally, if you want to use it for storage, we recommend using a salad bowl with a lid, which will not only keep the salad fresher for longer, but is also practical for transport! Don't forget your salad cutlery for serving!
