Hado is an artisan workshop belonging to the Sakai Fukui company, which usually produces Japanese knives industrially. In 2015, sales manager Tadataka Maruyama told president Ryuichiro Fukui of his desire to become an artisan. This coincided with Ryuichiro's desire to relaunch artisanal production within Sakai Fukui. He then asked Tadataka Maruyama to train for 3 years, while he set up the in-house workshop. In spring 2019, the workshop was born. The name Hado was not chosen at random. It means "the road of blades" and represents the very essence of the workshop. Every day, our blacksmiths travel the road to excellence, forging to progress. Hado Sakai Japanese kitchen knives are forged by the best blacksmiths, such as Yoshikazu Tanaka or Shogo Yamatsuka (both certified Traditional Master Craftsmen ), then sharpened by Tadataka Maruyama.
