The famous Fällkniven F1 knife, used by the Swedish Air Force, was designed after an 8-year development period. This limited edition features a distinct and detailed laser engraving of the Saab JAS 39 Gripen in addition to its other features. Every part of this knife is handcrafted, including the blade, sharpening and handle finish. The side of the handle is emblazoned with Sweden's three golden crowns, with a layer of 24-carat gold around 30μm thick, 10 times thicker than usual.
The blade of the F1 Swedish Air Force NG hunting knife is made from the brand's premium powder-coated steel, 3G. This is a vanadium-molybdenum alloy renowned for its ability to maintain a sharp edge over time. What's more, the blade is convex-ground, a feature exclusive to the Fallkniven brand. This type of grinding offers a good balance between cutting power and strength.
The material used for the handle is micarta. This composite material is based on phenolic resin. This gives the knife remarkable lightness, strength and durability. The bolster, meanwhile, is made of silver nickel, adding a touch of warmth to the appearance of this full tang knife. Finally, the guard and rivets are made of nickel silver, adding a meticulous finish to the whole.
The limited number of copies of this edition is due to the entirely artisanal manufacture of this knife, which is designed in the authentic Loveless style. Although primarily intended for the collector, it's important to note that this Fallkniven knife is perfectly functional.
