The Wildsteer knife is a top-of-the-range tool, the result of many years of development by an archer and a blacksmith. Every element of the knife has been designed to meet specific needs. Its tanto-profile blade is particularly robust and can withstand heavy bending and striking forces. This is thanks to a thickness of 4.5mm at the tip and 7.5mm under the deburring notches.
What's more, the knife's perfect balance ensures optimum power for dynamic cuts such as pruning or trimming. This knife is part of the exclusive family of one-piece forged knives. It is made from a single piece, comprising blade, guard, handle and striking pommel. All this is achieved by heating the steel to over 1200°C, then striking it in a high-precision die.
The knife is made from self-hardening stainless steel. This isZ50CD13 or X50CrMoV13 steel (equivalent to DIN 1.4116). This easy-to-maintain metal alloy contains low levels of molybdenum and vanadium, enhancing its resistance to corrosion. After treatment, it achieves a hardness of 55-56HRC.
The Wildsteer WILD0101P forged hunting knife features a gold (light-colored) leather handle with a full-length paracord for easy handling.
Computer-aided design (CAD) has been used to optimize cutting angles and grindings. Sharpening angles vary from 15° to 25°, depending on the zone used. A 25° angle offers greater strength but less sharpness than a 15° angle. The grinding is symmetrical on both sides.
