The Wildsteer knife is a high-end cutting tool born of the encounter between an archer and a blacksmith. Each component of the knife has been specially designed to meet specific needs. Its blade has a robust tanto profile, which enables it to withstand high bending and striking stresses, thanks to a thickness of 4.5mm at the tip and 7.5mm below the deburring notches.
What's more, the knife is perfectly balanced, providing optimum cutting power for dynamic tasks such as pruning or trimming. It belongs to the prestigious family of forged knives, which are made from a single piece comprising blade, guard, handle and striking pommel. This is achieved by heating steel to a temperature in excess of 1200°C, then forging it in a high-precision die.
The knife's base material isself-hardening stainless steel. This is made from the alloy Z50CD13 or X50CrMoV13 (equivalent to DIN 1.4116). This type of steel has a low molybdenum and vanadium content. This makes it more resistant to corrosion and easier to maintain. After treatment, steel hardness reaches 55-56HRC.
The WILD0103P Wildsteer hunting knife features a black leather handle . It is firmly attached to the sole with a paracord running its entire length. It offers a secure, comfortable grip. Over time, the leather develops a patina that gives it an even more attractive appearance, similar to a wine that gains in quality with age.
Computer-aided design (CAD) has enabled us to optimize the knife's cutting angles and emoutures. Sharpening angles vary according to the area of use, and range from 15° to 25°. A 25° angle will offer greater strength but a less effective cutting edge than a 15° angle. Sharpening is symmetrical on both sides.
The Wildsteer WILD0103P forged knife offers great versatility thanks to its features. It features an anchor point for an arrow extractor and a pommel. What's more, it comes with a protective leather sheath to match the handle, making it easy to carry. It also comes with a flintlock incorporating an arrow extractor.
