The Herbertz sharpening kit is ideal for sharpening your knives, from recovering the edge of a damaged blade to polishing blades for a razor-sharp edge. You'll be perfectly equipped for complete maintenance of all your blades, and for long-lasting sharpness!
The 3 Arkansas stones are mounted on a 3-sided prism composed of:
- 1 coarse-grained sharpening stone, to regain the edge of your blade and rectify any defects or splinters
- 1 fine-grain whetstone, useful for sharpening blunt blades without removing too much material, but also for refining sharpening
- 1 very fine-grain whetstone, for gentle blade polishing and a fine, smooth finish, for a razor-sharp, pleasing edge
- 1 100mL sharpening oil
Arkansas stone is the most widely used stone in the cutlery world! They are made from novaculite, a micro-crystalline quartz found only on the American continent. This rock is particularly resistant to impact and wear, and ensures that the stones will last over the long term.
The 3 stones have different grits, so you can sharpen a damaged blade and finish by polishing it gently with this kit alone. So you can recover razor-sharp knives, whatever their original condition.
What's more, a 100mL sharpening oil is supplied with the stones to oil them and glide the blade over the stone, so that the sharpening result is even better. Arkansas stones are "oil stones", meaning they must be used with sharpening oil. It's also possible to use water, but if you've started with oil, you'll have to continue that way. On the other hand, you can start with water, and then switch to oil.
The stones measure 15 x 4.5cm. A practical 21.5cm wooden stand is supplied with the prism for easy storage. It also allows you to keep the side you wish to use flat while sharpening. This small format is convenient to take with you, and is complete enough for you to sharpen all your Western knives.
