Lo Pastre folding knives are traditional Corsican knives widely used by shepherds in mountainous regions.
Discover the Lo Pastre 2960, a knife with character!
Its 8cm blade is made of XC75 carbon steel. This is a wise choice for exceptional cutting performance without the need for regular sharpening. Carbon steel is appreciated by connoisseurs for its characteristics. The semi-rough appearance is rustic and authentic. As well as having a long-lasting cutting edge, the blade of this knife is very easy to sharpen. Edge maintenance is a breeze.
Carbon steel requires careful maintenance: unlike stainless steel, it is sensitive to corrosion. We advise you to dry it thoroughly with a cloth after cleaning to avoid any traces of oxidation. The color of the blade will probably change with use, and a patina may form. This is a normal process for carbon knives and makes them authentic!
The handle of the Lo Pastre 2960 knife is made of goat horn. The complexion of this natural horn is dark and very pleasing! Each knife is different, depending on the horn used to make it. The shape of the handle also differs from one piece to another. This is a knife made entirely by hand, so you'll have a unique knife in your pocket!
This 2-nail knife has no locking catch. To open the knife, simply pull on the blade, then use it for your needs: cutting small branches, cleaning a hoof, gathering herbs or simply cutting a tomage for a sandwich.
Originally, this type of knife was designed by herdsmen during grazing season. As well as making a useful tool for their work, it helped them pass the time. All they had to do was find a goat's horn on the ground and pick up a piece of metal for the blade from a horseshoe, for example. The final sharpening was done with simple pebbles.
This traditional Corsican Lo Pastre 2960 knife is rustic and authentic, and the perfect shepherd's companion!
