Description

Tsubaki Camellia Oil is ideal for caring for the blades of your kitchen knives!

An oil that protects blades from oxidation

Camellia has been known for centuries in Japan and China for its moisturizing and antioxidant properties. Camellia oil was and still is widely used to nourish tools, body and hair. This oil is made from the seeds of the Tsubaki camellia, the premium Japanese camellia.

The oil is ideally suited to carbon steel knife blades, protecting them from oxidation without drying them out. It's also an odorless oil that lets you cut your food without giving it an unpleasant taste. Camellia oil deeply nourishes your blades without leaving a greasy film.

Apply oil quickly and easily

Using camellia oil is very easy. First, clean and dry your knife blade. Next, pour a few drops of Tsubaki oil onto a soft, clean cloth, then apply a few strokes to the blade to be nourished.

As the oil dries, it creates a protective film on the knife blade. Wait for the oil to dry completely before using your knife.

We recommend that you carry out this maintenance once a month, so that you can enjoy the cutting benefits of carbon steel for a long time to come. The oil is available in a 100ml bottle for several months' use.

It's also important to reserve the oil for use on blades only. Although considered non-toxic, it is not suitable for any other use.

I've been ordering from the Couteaux du Chef website for years, and it's still just as great! The products sold are always of very high quality; the product descriptions (in my case, Japanese knives, kitchen utensils, sharpening steels and whetstones, etc.) are very detailed and comprehensive, with a very personal touch, explanations that are both concise and precise, and the occasional quirky note (I’m thinking of the pack of candy in exchange for a promo code on a future order ;) ) in the writing style—not to mention all the instructional videos, product presentations, and so on, the packages are always carefully prepared, and as a bonus, the website is very functional and a pleasure to browse (I’ve spent hours there selecting my work tools as a chef, and I always recommend it to everyone around me, both at work and outside of it…) Truly, by far the best website and the best team I’ve come across....

I ordered Camellia oil on recommendation for an unconventional use: treating the wood of guitar necks and the wooden bridges of these same guitars: the result is superb, without leaving any greasy residue. So I recommend it!

very good oil in sufficient quantity for a lot of maintenance... I only use it for my forge blanks, which develop a patina with use, and the result is just like out of the box!

Very good

To protect carbon steel blades from corrosion. Quite situational, but if your knives are in close proximity to humidity (steam, water splashes etc...) it will prolong their "out of the box" appearance Of course, no washing-up liquid on the blade after application, otherwise you'll have to start all over again.

not bad

not bad, I put a drop on each side of the blade after use. Effective but my blades were very slightly stained before and the product didn't really improve the situation. So it's effective for prevention, but not for improving the condition of the blade.
