Storing your kitchen knives can quickly become a headache: drawers full, not enough space to put a block on the worktop...The magnetic bar is therefore a very practical solution, allowing you to keep your knives within easy reach while leaving your worktop spotless. What's more, it lets you display your finest knives, which can sometimes be little masterpieces!

The Essences Creations magnet bar will become the star of your kitchen, while showcasing your knives. It's a completely handcrafted piece, developed by Romain Abeille. This passionate craftsman makes superb creations: each bar is unique and requires months of work to see the light of day.

First of all, he selects large pieces of wood from which to extract the finest parts to make these magnetic bars.

The wood is then heated. But what is scaling? It's an attack on wood by fungi. The tree's sap ferments and is attacked by wood-eating fungi. It's a natural process that can happen to any piece of wood that's been damaged or left exposed to humidity for a long time.

In this case, the craftsman deliberately provokes this attack, as this is what will create the unique patterns on the surface of each magnet bar. In effect, the wood tries to defend itself against the attack of fungi, releasing tannins to halt their development, which ultimately creates the random black patterns you can admire on each bar.

This warming-up process takes at least 6 months, as a certain level of humidity and temperature must be reached for it to take place. The wood will then have to dry for a long time.

To stop the heating process in a controlled way, the bar needs to be vacuum-stabilized with resin. This will definitively block the moisture that is responsible for fungal growth.

Next, each magnet bar is polished to a soft, pleasant feel.

The magnets are inserted into the back of the bar, at both ends. In this way, each knife placed on its surface is held in place by a magnet at the top of the bar, and a magnet at the bottom. The result is impeccable: the knife holds perfectly to the surface of the smooth wood. Here: you can attach 3 kitchen knives.

The back of the bar has two screw slots for wall mounting (fastening system not supplied).

Finally, the craftsman's logo is pyrographed on the right-hand corner of each bar, adding a touch of authenticity and originality.

Please note that each bar is unique, and it's impossible to predict the patterns in advance. For example, on a piece of rough wood weighing around twenty kilos, it's possible to obtain only 2 or 3 usable pieces, since the patterns will be so random. So it's impossible to choose the visual of your bar in advance, and that's part of the beauty of a handcrafted piece!

Please note that the bar measures approximately 2.5 x 10 x 30 cm, but may vary in size by a few centimetres, both in width and length.
