The knife

The Petit Chef knife features a 10cm stainless steel blade. Its composition contains chromium, making it resistant to corrosion. Stainless steel is a strong alloy that is also shock-resistant. The tip of the blade is rounded to prevent your child from hurting himself. This blade is ideal for learning to cut fruit and vegetables, and for chopping fresh and aromatic herbs.

The handle is made from beech wood, the wood Opinel uses most for its knives. Sourced from French forests, this hard wood is easy to work with. To protect the wood, it is varnished to resist humidity and dirt. The handle is pressed against the blade with 2 stainless steel rivets for even greater strength. Its 10cm size is particularly suitable for children's small hands.

A red synthetic teaching ring is located under the handle at the junction with the blade. It teaches your child to position his or her fingers correctly on the knife, and prevents fingers from slipping on the blade for safe use.

The peeler

Finger guard

The Le Petit Chef finger guard is made of red synthetic material. It has 2 notches on the back for the hand to hold the food, and enables the child to adopt the "greenhouse" position: the first 2 phalanges are bent and the thumb and little finger hold the food while cutting.
