The set contains an Opinel N°7 with rounded blade and a blue belt sheath. Suitable for both boys and girls, it's designed to encourage children to take responsibility, experiment and discover nature.
The knife
The knife features an 8cm blade with a rounded tip in 12C27M stainless steel. This Swedish steel is corrosion-resistant, abrasion-resistant and robust. Practical for children who may have strong movements.
A ferrule acts as a junction between the handle and the blade of the knife, but also provides a high degree of safety when used by your child. Thanks to the Virobloc® system, the ferrule turns and locks the blade in either the open or closed position. In the open position, there is no risk of the blade closing on your child's fingers. In the closed position, it allows safe storage: if your child searches for the knife in his backpack in a hurry, he can't cut himself.
The handle is made from beech wood, the traditional wood used by Opinel for 95% of its knives. As part of our commitment to the environment, this wood is sourced from French forests. The wood is hard, solid and easy to work with. With a length of 10cm, it offers a perfect grip adapted to children's size, and is easy to use. What's more, the handle is varnished to protect it from moisture and dirt.
The case
The sheath allows the knife to be safely stored to prevent deterioration. Practical, it can be clipped to a belt for quick access when needed. In keeping with this environmental approach, it is made from R-PET, a 100% recycled plastic made from crushed bottles.
A small regenerated leather strap completes the sheath. This strap is made from leather scraps from leather goods factories. The blue of the case combined with the camel of the lanyard make this a small case to suit every child's taste.
