With unique know-how since 1890, Opinel knives convey the perfect image of traditional pocket knives: practical, foldable, sharp and French! The Animalia knife range offers reliable, long-lasting knives for everyday use.
Blade :
The blade is made of Sandvik stainless steel : this alloy used by Opinel protects the blade from corrosion, temperature variations and humidity. With a carbon content of 0.4%, it ensures an ideal cutting edge!
Handle:
The handle is made from oak wood from French farms. Oak wood is a noble natural product that gives your knife a long life. It is also a highly resistant wood (corrosion, humidity, shocks). The handle adapts easily to your hand for outdoor cutting.
The authenticity of this knife lies in the 3 laser engravings. These depict wild boar, for a rustic touch that's perfect for budding hunters!
Locking and opening :
The ferrule is the key element of Opinel knives: it joins the blade to the handle. The ferrule is rotatable, meaning that a new steel ring has been added to the one holding the handle and blade together. This ring locks the blade when it is folded or unfolded, for safe use.
This Opinel features a Nail Nick opening. Simply slide your fingernail into the notch on the blade to pull it out of the handle (the ferrule must be open), and off you go!
