The sabrage technique first appeared several centuries ago, during Napoleon's empire. By exerting strong pressure, the cork would jump spectacularly thanks to a skilful blade movement. This allowed the liquid to flow abundantly, marking the start of the festivities! A tradition combining spectacle and celebration that continues to this day.
Sabering champagne may seem intimidating at first, but it's a technique that can be mastered with a little practice:
- Remove the wirehood from the cork and place it on the neck, positioning it higher up (on the first groove above the neck).
- Find the bottle seam, which is the horizontal line marking the junction between the glass parts.
- Hold the bottle firmly by the bottom and place the blade thread flat along the seam.
- Slide the blade from bottom to top, along the seam, to strike the bottom of the bottle neck with force.
- The cork comes off without too much effort.
With a little practice, you can impress your guests with this elegant way of opening a bottle of champagne!
This champagne saber features a stainless steel blade, offering corrosion resistance and long durability. Its curvature is specially adapted to fit the shape of the bottle perfectly.
The handle, crafted from wood, guarantees enhanced resistance to humidity and features a unique grain. What's more, the full-silk blade is securely fastened with 2 rivets, ensuring optimum sturdiness.
Finally, this champagne saber comes with an elegant oak wood storage case. Handcrafted for an authentic, traditional design.
