Our tips for washing your kitchen knives:

Washing in the dishwasher?

Although the vast majority of knives are dishwasher-safe, dishwashing is still not recommended.

Here are the main reasons why you shouldn't wash your kitchen knives in the dishwasher:

  • The blades of your knives run the risk of colliding with each other or with your cutlery, resulting in serious damage.
  • Wooden handles are not dishwasher-safe. Many plastic handles are damaged at the joint.
  • High temperatures (steam) in the dishwasher damage the cutting edge of knife blades.
  • If you don't start washing immediately, the acids in the food residues will have time to attack the blades of your knives.
  • You risk injuring yourself with knife blades when retrieving your utensils from your baskets.

All kitchen knives need care. To keep them in top condition for as long as possible, it's essential to follow a few rules :)

We recommend that you rinse them in hot water before using them for the first time. After each use, rinse your knives quickly and wash them thoroughly with a little washing-up liquid before wiping them with a soft cloth.

When it comes to using kitchen knives, it's best never to use glass or granite surfaces, as these will damage the blades. Wooden or plastic boards are preferable.

When it comes to storage, avoid letting the blades come into contact with other metal objects. This will prevent micro-cracks from forming as a result of impact. Ideally, they should be stored on a knife rack or in a wooden drawer.
