The end of summer means the return of mushrooms to our plates. But before that, a trip to the forest is in order!

Here's a quick guide to the equipment you'll need for mushroom picking.

Mushroom knife

First things first: it's hard to pick mushrooms without the right knife.

The mushroom knife is your best ally when picking mushrooms. It features a curved, almost serpentine blade.

Why such a blade? Well, quite simply to be able to cut cleanly through the stem of the mushroom, without tearing off its mycelium (the widest part at its base).

The mushroom brush

Mushrooms picked in the forest are often full of dirt, which is normal. The difficulty lies in cleaning them without damaging them, as mushrooms are fragile. That's why the mushroom brush is so important.

Its format makes it easy to carry on your walks: it's often rounded and small in diameter. Its bristles, mainly made of natural fibers (such as silk), are very soft and remove excess soil from the head to the foot of the mushroom.

What's more, the mushroom brush also comes in handy when you're back home to finish cleaning your vegetables.
