Description

The Gude The Knife is a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship. From its conception to the manufacturing steps that determine its quality, everything has been thought out so that this very special knife is THE knife to use without the slightest effort. You'll be so surprised, you'll feel as if it's gradually becoming an extension of your arm.

The Gude company from Germany has been creating exceptional knives for years, knowing how to work steels and woods in a very unique way, and assuring you ranges of knives with incredibly impeccable finishes, with a look that is both sought-after and authentic at the same time.

This time, Gude has put all its experience and know-how into the creation of this extraordinary knife. It's a concentrate of efficiency that we offer you here.

Its blade is made of top-of-the-range 1.4116 stainless steel. Crafted to be razor-sharp and long-lasting, this chef's knife will enable you to cut your most stubborn dishes quickly and ergonomically.

The 26cm-long blade features a flap to protect your fingers during use. This special shape ensures that your hands are safe, whatever you're cutting.

The handle is made of grenadilla wood, known for its strength and resistance to humidity. Its density makes it waterproof and durable. Its dark brown tone adds cachet to an already remarkable knife, and its seamless insertion into the blade line demonstrates Gude's ineluctable experience in cutlery design.

If we add up all these advantages, THE KNIFE is a cut above standard chef's knives. Indeed, this knife usually encounters a not inconsiderable ergonomic problem. As it is made up of 3 parts: the blade, the bolster and the handle, balance is sometimes difficult between these last elements, forcing chefs to hold the bolster, or even put a finger on the blade to increase the knife's ergonomics. As a result, the fingers become twisted, which can lead to unpleasant musculoskeletal disorders.

With THE KNIFE, balance is automatic and effortless. Thanks to its ease of handling, the transfer of force between the arm and the tip of the blade is immediate, and your cuts will be that much cleaner and faster.

This makes it ideal for both professional chefs and novice cooks looking for quality equipment.

To clean it, you'll need to wipe it dry by hand once it's wet, then use it on a wooden board, not a hard surface, to preserve its full effectiveness.

Its style is unique: both its curves and the materials used, its incredible, original shape will make this piece a sensational utensil in your kitchen. Its sleek design will delight all cooks, the perfect blend of modernity with its shiny stainless steel blade and the rusticity of its wooden handle.

It's halfway between a knife of formidable efficiency and ergonomics and a designer decorative piece! Once you've tried it, you won't be able to do without it... Rediscover the pleasure of cutting with this atypical and admirable knife!

Quality and design

In terms of finish, design and quality, this is the top-of-the-range knife we love! On the other hand, given the weight of this beast, you can't use it for hours without suffering, so it's best seen as an excellent everyday knife, but should be avoided for professional use or for preparing food for dozens of people.

The knife is well-designed and fits comfortably in the hand, BUT—and I mean BUT—its main flaw lies in a simple design flaw. I was able to use one while I was working in Corsica—no problem so far—but then I went to work in Polynesia for a year, and the high humidity caused the wooden part to swell, creating a gap, and eventually it came completely detached from the metal part (The wooden handle is simply screwed and glued in place and only wraps around part of the knife that serves as the handle.) Since the knife was under warranty, they sent me a replacement. After three days of use, a new gap formed, so I decided to stop using it. the night before starting a new job in Savoie, I filled the small gap that had formed with glue, and nothing moved until I started work. But during the night of my first day on the job (I had left it in the kitchen), the extremely high humidity in the heated kitchen caused the wooden part to split, leaving the knife on the bar and the handle to fall onto the countertop. Bottom line: two fairly expensive knives that I couldn’t use anymore and that were ultimately quite poorly designed. Conclusion: Don’t buy this knife if you’re a professional in the restaurant industry.
