Description

The champagne saber for uncorking sparkling wines

This Homey's by Schiffmacher champagne saber is ideal for ceremoniously opening all bottles of champagne and sparkling wine.

It features a 16cm blade made of robust, corrosion-resistant stainless steel. Unlike a conventional knife, the champagne saber's blade is characterized by its thickness, making it highly resistant to impacts against glass bottles. The blade is also curved to adapt perfectly to the shape of the bottles. Non-sharp, it is not designed for cutting.

The saber features a 10cm burr walnut handle. This part of the walnut tree has many knots, giving the saber a uniquely elegant appearance. Walnut has good strength and resistance to humidity, making it perfect for a champagne saber. What's more, the saber is quite heavy in the hand (240g), making it easy to open your bottles.

The saber features a one-piece brass-look bolster and guard, linking the blade to the handle while ensuring safe use. Your fingers cannot slip on the blade.

Finally, an ornamental bow adorns the end of the handle. This hand-tied orange cord is entitled "end of the world". Traditionally, it's used to hang the sword from the clapper of a bell, but it beautifully decorates the bottle on your table before opening.

Designs by Henk Schiffmacher

The champagne saber's bolster and blade feature designs by Henk Schiffmacher, the famous Dutch tattoo artist.

From an early age, his butcher father taught him to recognize and love good knives. Homey's naturally called on him to design a range of products that would allow him to express his passion for tattooing, cooking and the butcher's trade.

He draws his inspiration from Polynesian tattoos, reputed to be the origin of many tattoo styles. Polynesians wear their tattoos with pride, as they are imbued with strong symbols. For example, the Niho Mano motif, visible on the bolster, evokes the shark's teeth, representing strength and power. The bolster also features Henk Schiffmacher's signature pirate's head.

The blade features spirals representing fiddleheads. These symbolize the beginning of a new life in the tattoo culture of the Marquesas Islands in Polynesia.

This superb champagne saber is presented in a black cardboard box decorated with the tattoo artist's pirate head in a superb gold color. Give this gift box to champagne lovers and utensils with strong symbolism.
