Opinel Luxury Black Edition knife n°08 8.5cm black blade oak handle

The result of decades of expertise and passion, Opinel cutlery has become an integral part of French heritage and the collective unconscious, thanks to the efficiency and simplicity of the knives it produces.

This Opinel Luxe Black Edition knife is the perfect reinterpretation of the traditional n°08. The combination of oak and black steel makes for an original, contemporary and classy knife!

The 8.5cm blade is entirely made of alloyed stainless steel, obtained by adding chromium. This alloy offers excellent resistance to corrosion and requires no special maintenance. The blade and ferrule are matte black in color: this finish is obtained thanks to a specific surface treatment (electrolytic bath) that increases corrosion resistance tenfold. The blade is suitable for food contact.

The blade is also called Yatagan, thanks to its particular shape inspired by a Turkish saber, with the point raised. It is ground to a curved profile, guaranteeing efficient resharpening.

The handle is made of oak from French forests. This hardwood is resistant to insects and fungi thanks to its high tannin content. Its yellow-brown appearance blends perfectly with the steel and its straight, even grain. The handle is varnished to protect it from moisture and dirt.

The ferrule is an essential element: it joins the blade to the handle. It is rotatable, meaning that a new steel ring has been added to the one holding the handle and blade together. This rotating ferrule locks the blade when folded or unfolded. So you can use and store your knives in complete safety.
