The blade is made of Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, known for its strength and high carbon content (approx. 0.4%). The blade is hand-sharpened to an angle of 40° for excellent, long-lasting sharpness. What's more, the blade of this particular series is totally tapered, meaning it's much finer than the traditional blade. Cutting is all the more precise.

The handle is made from French beech wood. It features a large slot for the blade. Due to the nature of the wood, each knife is unique: the knots, nuances and veining are different each time. Note that the wood is varnished to protect it from traces of humidity.

This Opinel features a ferrule that joins the blade to the handle. This rotating ferrule locks the blade when folded or unfolded. So you can use your knife in complete safety.
