When Opinel meets the talent of art cabinetmaker Bruno Chaperon, the famous N°08 is transformed into a veritable work of marquetry. The Opinel N°08 Chaperon knife combines Opinel's legendary efficiency with a handle made from four carefully blended woods.
The 10.9cm handle is made using a marquetry process perfected by Bruno Chaperon. Four woods with strong characters come together to create a unique pattern:
Maple or American walnut veneers complete this meticulous work. Each handle is then hand buffed to a soft, durable finish. In other words, you'll never come across two strictly identical knives.
The 8.5cm stainless steel blade has a poliglace finish. Thanks to double polishing, it boasts a superb mirror effect that would almost compete with your bathroom mirror.
Opinel stainless steel has a hardness of 55 to 57HRC. This compromise ensures a high-performance cutting edge, good wear resistance, excellent resistance to corrosion and easy resharpening. This blade will stand up to everyday use, from improvised picnics to cutting fruit, vegetables or cold meats.
The knife features the Virobloc mechanism, designed in stainless steel. This rotating ring locks the blade in the open position for safe use, and in the closed position to avoid surprise openings in the pocket.
To preserve the shine of the poliglace blade and the beauty of the wooden handle, clean your knife by hand with a soft sponge, then dry it immediately. Avoid the dishwasher and prolonged immersion. A light coat of oil on the wood from time to time will keep it looking its best.
Founded in 1890 in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Opinel is part of France's heritage. Its knives, instantly recognizable, have been accompanying lovers of nature, cuisine and fine craftsmanship for over a century. A timeless classic that hasn't aged a day!
