The Staub brand has established itself as an indisputable benchmark for kitchen utensils, particularly for cooking. This success is no accident. Located in Hauts-de-France, a region rich in gastronomy, the company has never ceased to innovate in its manufacturing techniques. All the while preserving the traditional know-how for which it is renowned.
You'll love the round Staub cocotte. Traditionally made in France, it's one of a kind. Star chefs such as Christian Constant and the late Paul Bocuse have adopted it. This deep-blue Staub casserole is perfect for simmering, caramelizing, roasting, cooking poultry and even bread. It works on all types of cooker, gas, halogen hob... including induction, and can be used in the oven.
Its intense blue color is achieved by a special finish called "Majolica". This is what gives it its unique shine and deep hue. Thanks to its meticulous design, the cocotte moves easily from the kitchen to the table.
This intense blue Staub cocotte is made from cast iron, an iron alloy containing a significant amount of carbon. This is one of the most effective materials for retaining heat, releasing it slowly and distributing it evenly. Once heated to a sufficient temperature, cast iron reduces the intensity of the flame to a minimum, allowing dishes to be simmered gently. Meat remains tender and vegetables soft. What's more, cast iron has the ability to preserve cold: you can place the casserole at room temperature in the fridge before serving. This will keep your dish cold when you bring it to the table. And for maintenance, as with all Staub cocottes, the interior is also cast iron, but in black. This high-quality enamel interior is scratch-resistant and easy to clean.
With its flat lid, the Staub enamelled cast-iron cocotte retains moisture. And the lid is studded for even heat distribution. When you cook in a casserole with a picot lid, the steam generated during cooking rises towards the lid. As the steam rises and comes into contact with the walls of the lid, it condenses into water droplets. The water droplets then fall back onto the cooking food, helping to keep it moist and tender. This is what we call a continuous watering system lid. This creates an optimal cooking environment for simmered dishes, stews and braises, helping to retain moisture and achieve juicier, more tender cooking results.
As you can see, opting for this casserole guarantees deliciously simmered dishes! No matter what recipe you're cooking, the Staub cocotte retains all the intensity and flavor of your preparation.
