It's made of flexible, hard-wearing black material. Its flexibility allows you to curve its surface to better move your food once cut (or juices if any).

To wash, use clear water and mild soap. Its smooth surface won't offer any resistance. You can also put it through the dishwasher, and it can be sterilized since it can withstand temperatures of up to 150°C!
