The Shapton Kuromaku range includes stones with a variety of grits to ensure precise, thorough sharpening of your kitchen knives. Available from very thick to fine grit, Kuromaku stones can be adapted to all your needs.
The Kuromaku stone is the thickest stone produced by Shapton: it measures almost 1.5cm thick! This stone is made of ceramic, and the particles it contains are evenly distributed over its surface. As a result, your blades are sharpened evenly and quickly. Ceramic being a very hard material, the stone has a slower wear capacity, even after repeated sharpening.
It's an efficient, hard-wearing stone perfectly suited to intensive use. Professionals will also benefit from the performance of this whetstone.
The 1000 grit is a medium grit. This grit is ideal for regular maintenance of blades in good condition. It restores the cutting edge of knives that have difficulty cutting. This medium-abrasive grit keeps your blades clean for a long time.
Note that this stone is called Splash & Go: it doesn't need to be pre-soaked to sharpen. Simply moisten the surface and you're ready to go! The Kuromaku sharpening stone saves you time.
The stone comes with a protective box that's not just for storage. In fact, you can also use the box as a support while sharpening. The box is fitted with non-slip rubber feet to ensure perfect stability. With its grooves, the box also ensures that the stone is well ventilated, even when stored.
It's important to let the stone dry completely before storing it. Leave it in the open air, away from any source of heat. Too much heat can crack the stone.
Japanese brand Shapton offers top-of-the-range stones renowned for their longevity and performance. Available in different ranges, including Kuromaku and Glass Stone, the stones are perfectly suited to all your needs.
With their ability to wear slowly, high-quality stones are highly appreciated by professionals in the catering trade.
