The material selected for sharpening is crucial: high-carbon steel alloyed with chromium, manganese and silicon.
The steel used is File Steel 135 Cr3 (1.35% carbon).
- FISCHER offers 3 sizes:
STANDARD: For sharpening. Recommended for light use of knives. Ideal for dull / worn knives.
FINE: Restores the smooth edge and mor-fil of professional blades.
EXTRA-FINE: FIS'CHROM series. They sharpen and maintain the edge of razor-sharp knives.
-Thanks to FISCHER's perfectly mastered heat treatment, a hardness of 64 to 66 HRC is guaranteed on sharpening wheels, enabling sharpening of all existing steel knives.
-The HARD CHROME coating on the Sharpening steels is between 8 and 10 microns thick. This coating protects against corrosion and increases surface hardness by 3 to 4 HRC on the edges.
- FISCHER shotguns are magnetized to retain the tiny steel particles that detach from the knife blade during sharpening.
-Sharpening Steels are available in oval or round shapes: the larger the surface, the greater the contact with the knife, resulting in better sharpening. We therefore recommend the use of oval-shape sharpening wheels.
