Butter/spreading knife

Butter knife features

If you believe that a good start to the day requires an energizing breakfast, then the butter knife is a must-have in your kitchen drawers. It's the ideal cutlery for making your morning toast. Also known as a tartineur, it enables you to cut butter, remove it and spread it on a slice of fresh bread, a rusk or a brioche. It can also be used to handle spreads, jam or pâté.

The butter knife is a short cutlery knife, rarely exceeding 12 cm in length. Its rounded tip makes it easy to scrape the bottom of jars and spread food delicately, without piercing your toast. The wire is often soft and not very sharp, so it can be used by children without the risk of cutting themselves. However, you can opt for a butter knife with a serrated edge. With its fine serrations, you can cut your bread and make your tartines with a single knife.
