The Fukito Desert Damascus range perfectly illustrates the balance between performance, ease of use and a strong visual identity. Fukito knives are made in Western China, in the province of Guangdong, a region historically renowned for the production of cutting tools for many decades. Each model is designed with carefully selected materials and manufacturing processes that meet the standards of the professional food industry.

The Desert Damascus range is distinguished by the use of damascened blades with strong personality and handles combining synthetic materials and natural wood, to offer knives that are technical, ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing.

A damascened blade with a mastered technical core

Fukito Desert Damascus knives are equipped with damascened blades resulting from the superposition of different steels, including stainless steel and nickel steel. This alternation of materials creates a marked visual contrast between the layers, giving rise to elegant wavy patterns visible across the entire cutting surface. Damascus is not only aesthetically pleasing, it also contributes to the overall balance of the blade, combining steels with complementary properties.

At the heart of this damascus structure is a core of 10Cr15CoMoV stainless steel, an alloy very similar in performance to VG10 steel. Its carbon content of around 1.05% increases cutting edge rigidity and ensures excellent edge retention, with a hardness of around 60 HRC on the Rockwell scale. Chromium, present at around 15.5%, improves corrosion resistance, an essential point for regular use in the kitchen.

This core is then surrounded by layers of stainless steel and nickel steel, which both protect the heart and create the characteristic Damascus contrast. The result is a good balance between hardness and wear tolerance, enabling the blade to withstand the micro-shocks of repeated cutting. Depending on the angle and the light, the logo on the blade may be more or less visible, reinforcing the unique character of each knife.

A handle combining G10 and ironwood

The handles of Fukito Desert Damascus knives are central to their identity. It combines G10 and ironwood, two materials with very different but perfectly complementary properties. Fine gold edgings highlight the transition between these materials and emphasize their respective hues.

G10 is a synthetic material renowned for its durability, hardness and stability. Composed of glass fibers impregnated with resin, then compressed and hardened after firing, it offers excellent resistance to humidity and temperature variations. On these knives, G10 forms the black parts of the handle, located around the bolster and base.

The central part of the handle is made of ironwood from the Arizona desert. This dense, very hard wood is distinguished by its naturally dark hue, punctuated by lighter veins that provide contrast. Because wood is a living material, each handle has its own unique grain, making each knife different. The result is a handle that is robust, well-balanced and pleasant to hold.

The octagonal shape of the handle reinforces its originality. Elongated and contoured, it offers eight distinct sides for a stable, comfortable grip. This design is equally suited to right- and left-handed cooks, while providing a greater sense of control when cutting.

A versatile range with an assertive style

The Fukito Desert Damascus range is aimed at cooks seeking versatile knives capable of efficiently working vegetables, boneless meat, fish or herbs, while displaying a strong, distinctive aesthetic. The models in this range combine a high-performance damascus blade with a distinctive handle, for a cutting experience that's both precise and comfortable.

The knives are delivered in a gift box, for safe storage or as a thoughtful gift. To preserve their qualities, we recommend washing knives exclusively by hand, without soaking or running them through the dishwasher. After washing, they should be carefully wiped with a soft cloth before being stored in a dry place.
