The Capuchadou model is the predecessor of the famous Laguiole knife. It is recognized as the authentic knife used by the shepherds of Aubrac in bygone days. They used it to care for their animals, prepare their meals... The knife we present here is a reinterpretation of this famous model, by FONTENILLE PATAUD GILLES. It is entirely handcrafted.
FONTENILLE PATAUD GILLES specializes in the manufacture of top-of-the-range traditional knives. This French manufacturer offers a highly varied range of products, using noble materials such as ebony, ivory and walnut. Their design and quality embody all the secrets of craftsmanship. FONTENILLE PATAUD GILLES will delight customers looking for a handmade Made in France product.
Featuring a Sandvik 12c27 stainless steel blade, this Capuchadou 12cm folding knife iscorrosion-resistant, thanks in particular to its chromium content (13.6%). Its carbon content (0.6%) gives this alloy a high hardness of 57HRC on the Rockwell scale. This avoids the need for frequent sharpening, and ensures long-lasting cutting quality.
It is suitable for many types of cutting. Whether indoors or out, this versatile tool will slice food, such as meat, as well as outdoor materials like cord. The blade of this knife is Clip Point shaped. Its back is cut towards the tip, giving it a fine point capable of slipping into various narrow places, but above all of piercing more easily.
This knife features the Nail Nick opening system. The notch at the end of the blade allows you to open the knife with your fingernail.
The handle is slim, but becomes curved and wider towards the end of the knife, to fit the shape of your hand. The aim is to provide a more comfortable grip. Decorated in ebony, this wood is reputed to be exotic. It comes straight from the tropics and is renowned for being a very hard wood. It is complemented by a solid stainless steel bolster, which highlights the hand-chiselled back of the handle.
