The blade is made from an Austrian alloy. In fact, FOX sources N690Co steel from its neighbor to manufacture its blades. This steel is known for its high Rockwell strength(close to that of the best kitchen knives) of 58-60HRC. We know that the higher a steel's strength, the longer it will stay sharp. As a result, you won't need to re-sharpen your knife regularly(but do take care of it). The blade is 5mm thick and 13.5 cm long . This blade is reinforced by its higher carbon content(1.07% for N690Co vs. 0.6% for the best-known European steels).
The handle is made of micarta. A resin that is highly resistant to impact and thermal differences. This is an asset for a knife mainly used outdoors(for cutting wood, digging holes or butchering game). With its 17cm length, the grip is perfect. Fingerprints are also available on the bottom of the handle for added comfort. Use of the knife is secured by a pump lock. This locks the blade in the position of use, preventing it from closing. To unfold the blade, simply pull it out with your fingers. This is the Nail Nick system . Fox has added a safety feature to ensure that there's no risk of the blade closing: a safety button on the handle that you need to slide to lock and unlock the blade.
To transport your knife, you can use the nylon sheath supplied with your purchase. It allows you to carry the knife in the open position like a dagger (ideal for hunting) and in the closed position. Practical for quick storage and removal.
