The Memories fruit basket byAlessi not only fulfills its primary function of presenting fruit, but is also an elegant design accessory.
It was designed by Alberto Alessi, Carlo Alessi's son. He has led a series of re-editions of kitchen utensils and accessories originally designed between the 1920s and 1940s by his father Carlo. All these re-editions, including the fruit basket, respect the original intent of their forebears, which was to offer an advanced design that ensures better use of materials while using as little energy as possible in its transformation.
The products in the Memories from the future collection, in addition to paying homage to previous editions, are a project close to Alessi's heart. The designer says he has always been struck by the "normality" of these household objects, particularly in the sense that they were used every day in our homes. They were also a reflection of a consumer society doomed to disappear, which Alessi defines as a pre-design period.
The fruit basket is made entirely of 18/10 stainless steel, a highly corrosion-resistant alloy that is robust and therefore durable. The wires that make up its walls converge towards the disc that serves as the bottom. The basket's graphic, airy shape gives it a light touch. With its glossy finish, the fruit basket is an object that blends elegantly with all styles of decoration.
