Kanetsugu Saya magnolia wood blade guard for Sujihiki Zuiun knife

The blade guard has been specially designed by Kanetsugu to fit the Sujihiki Zuiun knife. Its size and shape perfectly match the knife's 24cm blade.

Made from magnolia wood, the sheath offers excellent resistance to humidity, and its softness won't scratch the knife's delicate blade. Magnolia has been used since the Heian period in Japan to make sword scabbards. Being a light wood, it is ideal for protecting the knife.

A lacquered coating protects the sheath, increasing its durability. The mottled pattern gives the sheath a very elegant design, reminiscent of the damascened blade of the Sujihiki knife. Japanese characters are also pyrographed on the sheath, giving it a traditional look.

To fully protect the knife blade, a small red lace pin is supplied with the sheath. It snaps into place at the heel of the blade to lock it in the sheath. This prevents the blade from moving, and prevents you from injuring yourself when handling the knife.
