This unique nutcracker is part of the 100 Values Collection, a special series launched between 2021 and 2022 to celebrate the brand's 100th anniversary and pay tribute to the company and all the designers who have contributed to its fabulous objects. There are 12 100 Values Collection objects, one for each month of the year: they are both surprising and iconic.

The Alessi Farfalla nutcracker is the tenth object developed for this superb collection. It was designed by Enzo Mari, a famous Italian designer, illustrator and architect, known as a true master in his fields.

The object is intended to illustrate the term " Thingness", which refers to the profound essence of objects. An object achieves chosality when its design allows us to instinctively understand and synthesize what it was created for. Enzo Mari is a designer known for emphasizing this concept in the designs he has created throughout his life. We forget the superfluous, the unnecessary frills, and return to the essence of things. We even forget the decorative aspect to concentrate on pure functionality. In the end, this contributes to the incredible quality of its design. Forget aesthetics to perfect aesthetics.

The design of this nutcracker was worked on in the 90s, but had never been validated in production. The design was chosen for this special collection as a tribute to this outstanding designer. He was one of the most influential designers of the second half of the 20th century. An emblematic and colorful figure, he was awarded the Compasso d'Oro, Italy's highest design distinction, 5 times.

The nutcracker is made of high-grade 18/10 stainless steel with a shiny finish. Very simple to use, simply screw on the top of the device to engage the mechanism and the screw will break the shell of your walnut, or even a hazelnut.
