With its high Rockwell hardness of 63HRC, it's built to withstand extreme conditions. However, it is not entirely rustproof. Consequently, it is necessary to adopt the right maintenance gestures. Be sure to clean the blade after each use.

To counterbalance this, Benchmade has coated the blade with a black Cerakote protective coating that improves its resistance to rust.

Extremely robust aluminum handle

The Benchmade Bailout's handle is made of premium-grade aluminum. The result is less flexible, but much stronger. The handle also benefits from a non-slip texture that offers a solid, non-slip grip. The Bailout 537GY-1 pocket knife opens by pushing on thethumb stud on the blade. Once open, it locks with the Axis Lock safety mechanism. To unlock, simply slide the button on the axis downwards.
