With its extremely high Rockwell hardness (62-64HRC), it's built to withstand extreme conditions and deliver exceptional sharpness and durability. However, it is not 100% stainless. Therefore, be sure to clean the blade thoroughly after each use. To counterbalance this, Benchamade has coated the blade with a protective black Cerakote coating that enhances its resistance to rust.
In addition, the cutting edge is partially serrated like a saw. This makes this model suitable for cutting fibrous materials: you can easily cut rope or cardboard.
The handle is made frompremium-quality 6061-T6 aluminum. The result is less flexible, but stronger. The handle also benefits from a non-slip diamond texture. This provides a solid, non-slip grip. At the end of the handle you'll find a glass breaker to help you in survival situations. This extension is ideal for first-aid professionals.
The Bailout 537SGY-1 pocket knife opens by pushing on thethumb stud on the blade. Once open, it locks into place with the Axis Lock safety latch. To unlock, simply slide the thumb stud downwards.
