An exceptional utensil, and 100% French!
So often overlooked, yet of prime importance, a good chopping board can make all the difference in your kitchen. By providing a clear space dedicated to cutting, it allows you to work comfortably, while protecting your furniture. Made of wood, it also protects your knives by providing a soft surface where the blades won't dull. Last but not least, a quality board offers you a great opportunity for a presentation dish (for an aperitif, for example).
Established since 1885 in the Loire region, the Chabret workshops have become specialists in combining the culinary arts with woodworking. By carefully selecting the finest hornbeam wood from the forests of the Jura region, then working it using the centuries-old technique of "end-cutting", i.e. cutting it perpendicular to the grain, the Chabret craftsmen get the very best out of this material. Hornbeam has always been renowned for its excellent hardness, making it the ideal wood for the manufacture of durable vices.
The "end grain" technique is used to create a work surface on which the shocks and scratches sustained during cutting are applied in the direction of the grain. This prevents the board from splitting or crumbling.
It's this impeccable quality of design that makes this board so hygienic. Manufactured to NF food hygiene standards, this professional-quality worktop will always remain smooth and healthy, while offering you a comfortable, authentic tool.
And the world's greatest chefs have made no mistake. Alain Ducasse, for example, equips the kitchens of his restaurants around the world with Chabret worktops, and the great butcher Hugo Desnoyer asked Chabret craftsmen to supply his exceptional butcher's shop in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Chabret boards have also been featured on a famous TV cooking show!
And while the quality of these worktops is beyond reproach, the aesthetics are far from being outdone. The nobility of solid wood, combined with meticulous finishing and pure design, give Chabret worktops a timeless lustre. Integrating harmoniously into both rustic and modern kitchens, this board will become a central element of your kitchen, both practical and elegant.
Care instructions :
If wood is not regularly nourished, it has a tendency to warp: as wood works, it shrinks and expands under the effect of humidity and temperature, eventually causing cracks. To avoid this, this type of high-end board needs to be maintained with mineral oil or special waxes. After each wash, dry the board with a cloth. Once dry, coat with cutting-board oil and rub with a cloth or paper towel. Ideally, oil the board until it no longer absorbs oil. We recommend oiling the board once a week.
