Do you love everything from the land of the Rising Sun? Then you'll love maekake, the traditional Japanese apron!

In use for over 500 years, this apron continues to be handcrafted by Tokyo-based Anyhting Co.

This quality kitchen apron is made entirely of indigo blue cotton, measuring 67 x 47 cm, with a typical red-orange-and-white belt 260 cm long. The belt is simply tied at the waist and is suitable for both men and women with a waist circumference of up to 95cm.

Recognizable by its indigo blue color and its motif of the famous work by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai: The Great Wave, representing nature and its elements.

This kitchen apron fastens at the waist, tightly around the hips. It not only protects you from soiling, but also supports your lumbar vertebrae to protect your back.

Since it's made by hand, here are instructions on how to care for it:

- Do not use bleach or fabric softener.

- Do not tumble dry.

- Do not wash in lukewarm water.

- Wash separately from whites as dye may transfer to other fabrics. May shrink slightly after washing due to the nature of the fabric.
