Description

The Arcos NórdikaBread knife makes it easy to cut all types of bread!

Arcos cutlery is world-renowned. With a wealth of experience, you can still find knives dating back to 1745! Today, the company employs over 500 people who work daily on the 600 models of knives produced by the brand. Arcos dedicates more than 30,000m2 to its manufacturing process, to which it applies the latest technologies in a constant quest for quality.

The Nórdika Bread knife features a Nitrum®stainless steel blade. This alloy has been specially developed by Arcos. Enriched with nitrogen, the knife blade achieves a hardness of 57HRC on the Rockwell scale. This ensures long-lasting sharpness and easy maintenance. For everyday use, simply use a Sharpening steel to sharpen your knife. Stainless steel is an ideal material for kitchen knives, as it resists impact and corrosion.

The blade features the Silk Edge® cutting edge, for smooth, clean cuts. This type of cutting edge combines the know-how of Arcos master cutters with cutting-edge technology, to provide you with optimum cutting quality at all times.

The Bread knife blade measures 20cm. It is long, solid and sawn-edge. It features a serrated edge designed to cut effortlessly through the bread crust, ideal for cutting thin slices of baguette or country bread.

The handle is made from Ovangkol wood. This wood is native to Africa. 100% natural, it comes from FSC®-certified sustainably-managed forests. This acronym stands for the non-profit Forest Stewardship Council, whose mission is to promote the responsible management of the world's forest resources, from an environmental, social and economic point of view.

What's more, the handle gives you a pleasant grip while avoiding friction to your hands due to intensive and prolonged use of the knife. For even greater support, the wood is pressed against the knife's full tang blade by 3 corrosion-resistant brass rivets. For an aesthetic touch, Ovangkol wood provides the knife handle with color variations ranging from brown to chocolate.

As a mark of its commitment to the environment, Arcos offers this knife in a 100% recycled and recyclable cardboard sheath, reducing the use of plastic in its packaging by 70%.

my first proper bread knife

Until now, I've used good-quality multi-purpose knives (eg. chef or santoku) for bread ( VG10 steel), which are generally suitable, except when they're a little less sharp, on the crust of softened bread. I then had to cut into the crust with the very sharp heel of the santoku. This Arcos bread knife solves this problem, but doesn't allow me to slice in a single pass, as was the case with a good smooth blade. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied, given the good value for money.
Incredible

I've never owned such a good bread knife. It's wonderful. I was worried about its strength, as it's not forged, but the way it works (it's a saw like any other bread knife) means that it doesn't need any extra strength. And even without it, I think it would be perfect. I'm just dreading the day when I'll need to sharpen it. But as the brand's knives hold their edge honorably, that'll be my worry for later!
