The Atelier collection was born of the creativity and expertise of Opinel cabinetmakers. This model is in line with Opinel's approach of using as many European woods as possible and optimizing wood consumption by reinterpreting scraps from handle manufacture.

The 8.5cm blade is made of Sandvik modified 12C27 stainless steel, with a polished-ground finish. This alloy, developed for Opinel, is renowned for its long-lasting sharpness and ease of maintenance. This steel has a carbon content of at least 0.40%, providing a very good cutting edge without being susceptible to corrosion.
The Atelier N°08 knife features a handle in walnut from French forests, with a heel in African ebony. These two woods are separated by a maple leaf, adding a touch of modernity and contrast. Each handle is hand buffed.
The Virobloc safety ring, invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, is fitted to all closing knives from N°06 upwards. It is made of stainless steel and comprises two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. It is particularly useful as it allows you to block the blade in the open position and lock it in the closed position. This ensures safe use and transport.
