The Novac O'Knife oyster knife is ingenious, functional and efficient. It lets you open your oysters quickly, without damaging them, and with a minimum of effort. Designed by French engineers, it lets you rediscover the pleasure of opening oysters, and makes the maneuver accessible to all!
It features a treated stainless steel blade, 4cm long. Its wide surface is ideal for penetrating oysters, whose shells are nonetheless sturdy.
Its black ABS body features an integrated mechanical percussion system, which makes the knife unique! The system exerts pressure on the blade (which you will have placed between the two shells of the oyster), while retracting to the lower part of the handle. This is the cocking system. Once the handle has fully slid, the internal hammer is released, causing a shock that reverberates to the tip of the blade, and will open your oyster cleanly.
What's more, the O'Knife features a well-thought-out guard that can be used in two different directions. First: you can use it in the down position to slide your index finger behind it. Secondly, you can leave it on the top of the knife, where you can rest your thumb.
For optimum use, place your oyster with the tip towards you (the part called the hinge), and put your blade at 2/3 of the length of the oyster (starting from the blade). This is where the mollusc joins! Once the shock wave has been transmitted, you can use the blade to cut the stalk that holds the two shells together.
To wash it, simply run it under soapy water and off you go! This practical knife saves you time and effort!
