Description

The paring knife is a kitchen essential. Its small, narrow blade is ideal for cutting and peeling small fruits and vegetables. It's also highly appreciated for its maneuverability!

Sabatier 's Petit office de ma grand-mère is a nod to rustic cooking, but it also adapts to the modern needs of cooks. Simply timeless! You'll feel just as at home with your cuts as your grandmother did when she was cooking (you can still smell it!).

The blade is made of 8cm carbon steel. The advantage of carbon steel is that it wears more slowly than stainless steel, and holds its edge longer! However, this also makes it highly susceptible to corrosion. This is why it must not be left in a damp environment (dishwashers are forbidden), and must be dried with a cloth after each wash. It's also important to know that, over time, the color of the blade will inevitably change (and small spots may appear, don't worry), depending on the level of humidity in the air or the acidity of the food being cut, but this is perfectly normal! If you want to take extra care, you can oil the blade from time to time.

The handle is made of warm-toned varnished rosewood, with 2 brass rivets that lock the half-silk blade into the wood. Rosewood is a dense, moisture-resistant wood. It is pleasant in the hand, for both right- and left-handed users.

The knife's rustic look will put a smile on any cook's face, with its brass rivets, uniquely grained wooden handle and small cardboard box with prints straight out of the 50s. So choose this playful essential for your everyday cutting!

Magnificent office knife.

A nice little knife with a carbon steel blade that needs a bit of attention unless you like the patina it will acquire with use, like the little knife my grandmother used to clean and peel her vegetables. Given the price, you can't go without. What's more, it's super-sharp and easy to sharpen with just a 15€ Opinel double-sided stone.
Good knife but not protected

I have nothing to say about the knife itself, it cuts very well and is very practical. However, from the very first use, the blade has oxidized enormously. Even though it hasn't been through the dishwasher, it has been washed by hand only, without any product, and dried immediately. It's as if no protective layer had been applied to the blade or the wood, which drinks a lot of water. After cutting tomatoes and leaving the knife aside for 10 minutes to finish the preparation, the blade turned black and small rust stains appeared... In conclusion, I don't know if all knives are like this or if mine is defective, but I must say that it's quite surprising coming from a SABATIER.
Answer: Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. Carbon steel has the advantage of wearing less quickly than stainless steel, and it holds its edge longer. On the other hand, this also makes it very susceptible to corrosion. This is why it should not be left in a damp environment, and must be dried with a cloth after each wash. But even if you're careful, you should be aware that, over time, the color will inevitably change (and small spots may appear, don't worry), depending on the level of humidity in the air or the acidity of the food cut, but this is perfectly normal! If you want to give it extra care, you can oil the blade from time to time. Our team remains at your disposal if you need advice or any other information. See you soon, Lola from Couteauxdechef

small, practical with this blade shape. good cutting edge. carbon 70 = the best for me. to be recommended for carbon blade enthusiasts who have already used the old knives at home in the country, those that were easily sharpened to keep their edge effective.

Metal knife that cuts with a wooden handle for a good grip. Granny boned a wild boar with it! I swear the boar didn't mess around!
The blade rusts

The cutting edge is perfect, but the blade is now covered with rust stains after just a few uses. What a disappointment!
Answer: Hello, We're very sorry to hear that you're not completely satisfied with your new knife. However, this knife is made of carbon steel, which makes it more susceptible to corrosion. This is why it must not be left in a damp environment (dishwashers are forbidden) and must be dried with a cloth after each wash. It's also important to know that, over time, the color of the blade will inevitably change (and small spots may appear, don't worry), depending on the level of humidity in the air or the acidity of the food being cut, but this is perfectly normal! If you want to give it extra care, you can oil the blade from time to time. Our team will be happy to give you further advice on 09.72.56.08.32 :) Thank you and have a lovely day! The knife started rusting after the very first use, even though I washed it by hand and didn't leave it sitting in water. I'm very disappointed and wouldn't recommend it. However, I have another one that I bought several years ago, and it hasn't had any problems.

Cuts perfectly. The steel blade is brilliant. It's easy to hold and reminds me of my grandmother Eugenie!
Practical, but the blade oxidizes after the 1st wash

The knife is perfect, the size is ideal for cutting fruit. However, the blade oxidized after the 1st wash. Do not put in dishwasher
Good value for money.

A very nice little knife, sober and inexpensive, that does exactly what you expect it to do. It's a very cool addition to my wusaki fujiko pantry. Be careful, the blade is loaded with carbon and needs to be thoroughly dried before being stored.

1st use. Wash + wipe the blade directly afterwards. Rust has settled on the blade ever since. I don't recommend it, too bad the basic idea was good.

This knife cuts well, but it rusts every time you use it; the blade turns completely gray and gets stained the very first time you use it.
Very disappointed
