The Shapton Rock Star stone is the result of the brand's latest innovation. This wild-looking stone is available in a dozen grits, to give you the best possible support, whatever the condition of your knives. Thicker than Glass Stone, it is similar to Glass Stone in terms of quality. It's a solid, top-of-the-range stone that will last and care for your blades.
Rock Star shapton has a high concentration of white alumina on its ceramic surface, which gives it its abrasive power. What's more, this material will wear slowly, allowing you to enjoy its effectiveness for a long time to come.
Its 500 grit is ideal for repairing dull blades. Even if it's not the thickest grit in existence (you can get down to 200/300 grit), it's still considered highly abrasive, and therefore removes the micro-shocks that the edge of your blade accumulates as you cut. It is therefore the stone of choice for cleaning a cutting edge, before moving on to a finer grit to polish the steel.
The result on your blades is uniform and precise, a real plus for all users.
The stone should be immersed in water for a few minutes before use, ten minutes maximum.
Once you've finished sharpening your knives, you'll need to let the stone dry completely before putting it away. Leave it in the open air, away from any source of heat. Too much heat can cause the stone to crack and dry too quickly.
The Japanese brand Shapton offers top-of-the-range stones renowned for their longevity and performance. Various ranges are available, including the Kuromaku line and the Glass Stone series. Because of their durability and efficiency, Shapton stones are highly appreciated in the food industry.
Rock Star stones can also be used for chisels, chisels and woodworking utensils.
