Shapton is a brand renowned for offering high-quality, highly effective and long-lasting whetstones. Shapton stones are available in different ranges to suit all your needs.
These stones are known to wear relatively slowly, which is why they are so highly appreciated by restoration professionals. These hard stones are ideally suited to expert sharpeners rather than beginners. Their hardness is a real asset when it comes to longevity. In fact, the harder a stone is, the slower it wears, as mentioned above.
To match the grit you need to the condition of your knives, Shapton's Glass Stone range contains stones with different grits. Each stone complements the other for perfect sharpening of your blades.
The stone presented here has a finer grain than standard sharpening stones. Its abrasive part is made of aluminum oxide and is mounted on a fine tempered glass plate. This ensures that it won't warp despite repeated use, while keeping its useful surface very flat.
This stone has a 1000 grit (14.7 micron) which is ideal for maintaining the sharpness of your blades on a regular basis. 1000 grit is the median grit for sharpening. It is therefore an essential part of your equipment, as it can be used to finish sharpening a low/medium HRC knife, or as a starter stone for high HRC knives that have lost some of their cutting ability.
With its high abrasive power, the stone enables you to sharpen your blades quickly.
The Glass Stone range features so-called Splash & Go stones. This means that, unlike conventional sharpening stones, they do not need to be pre-soaked before use. Simply moisten them: it's easy and saves time.
Thanks to the highly uniform aluminum oxide particles on its surface, Glass Stone ensures even sharpening of your blades. You work cleanly and can continue sharpening with a higher-grain stone if necessary.
For even greater stability during sharpening, you can complement this stone with its adapted stand.
