Description

Shapton whetstones prove their effectiveness

Shapton Japanese sharpening stones are recognized for their effectiveness and durability. They are available in several ranges to suit your precise needs.

They are reputed to wear very slowly. Professionals in the food industry appreciate them for their performance. Note that these are hard stones, so they are recommended more for users who already know how to sharpen than for novices. However, their hardness is a real asset in terms of longevity: as mentioned above, the harder a stone is, the less quickly it will wear out!

Japanese Glass Stone: 220 grit

The shapton glass stone range presents a series of stones with different grits, which complement each other and enable you to achieve a perfect finish to the edge of your blades. It's up to you to adapt the grain you need to the condition of your knife!

This stone is finer than standard stones. It has an abrasive part made of aluminum oxide mounted on a tempered glass plate, which means it won't deform despite use, and remains perfectly flat. This comes in handy when sharpening, as it retains its original shape.

Its 220 grit (66.82 micron) makes it particularly effective on dull blades. With its high abrasion power, sharpening is fast. Its hard grain also makes it suitable for hard steels (e.g. powdered steels).

The stones in the shapton glass stone range are Splash & Go: this means they don't need to be pre-soaked like standard water stones. Simply moisten before use and you're ready to go. So you save time.

The glass stone shapton guarantees even sharpening of your blade thanks to aluminum oxide particles that are very uniform in their structure. The work is clean, so you can continue finishing with a higher-grit stone if necessary, without any headaches.

For ease of use, we recommend the appropriate support to stabilize the stone.

Ideal for starting a blade renovation

Wears very little, no soaking required. Perfect for roughing up a badly-treated blade. For higher grits, I prefer soaking stones, which in my opinion offer better feel, control and finish, but here it's perfect. What's more, we have the efficiency of 220, but the result is closer to 280-300: I can go straight to 1000 grit with no worries.

Very happy with my shapton stone. I love the white before starting to work, it motivates me even more. It wears slowly, I love it as I've dressed it 2 times since I got it. I'm happy with my purchase and I recommend
