A high-performance Sharpening stone

Like traditional diamond whetstones, this Atoma Economy whetstone features a highly abrasive diamond surface. It is designed to remove a lot of material quickly and in a few passes, making it very easy to use.

The plate is made of solid steel and covered with a large number of abrasive particles distributed in the form of small dots all over its surface. This distribution ensures a good flow of water and residual material, and prevents the particles from coming loose.

The Atoma stone has a medium-coarsegrit #600, making it ideal for initial sharpening of blades in good condition, but which still cut with difficulty or not at all.

The steel plate is 1mm thick and cannot be used on its own. That's why it's firmly attached to an aluminum support. It is glued to the base with a powerful double-sided adhesive tape, giving the stone a final size of 21 x 7.5 x 1.1 cm. We recommend using the stone on a microfiber cloth or on an adjustable support to give it height, and ensure precise, stable work.

A top-of-the-range, versatile whetstone

Unlike standard diamond whetstones, this Atoma whetstone requires water to be added when first used. It can then be used in the same way as a traditional Sharpening stone, taking care not to exert too much pressure.

This diamond stone will give you optimum sharpening performance after a break-in time of around 5 knives. The stone is so effective that you can also use it to sharpen chisels or other sharp tools. Versatility is the watchword.

The stone also has the advantage of remaining flat despite its many uses. As versatile as ever, it can also be used as a levelling stone for traditional whetstones that have become hollow.

All in all, this is a top-of-the-range whetstone designed by Tsuboman in Japan. As it wears extremely slowly, it is extremely durable. It's also an economical stone, because the day it stops sharpening, you don't need to buy a whole new one. Atoma offers a #600 replacement plate.
