Thanks to over 125 years' experience, Boos Block has been able to develop a unique know-how, ensuring exceptional products.
Boos Blocks boards are among the top-of-the-range products, renowned the world over. They provide indisputable efficiency for professionals and cooking enthusiasts alike, and will do so for many years to come!
Boos Blocks is certified by the FSC(Forest Stewardship Council), an environmental label ensuring that wood production complies with the rules of sustainable forest management (to avoid today's intensive deforestation).
The maple wood used to make this board is harvested in North America. It's a very strong, soft wood that preserves the edge of your knives. Its thickness accentuates its solidity, making it ideal for cutting meat, for example. What's more, the deep groove running along its surface allows you to collect the cooking juices.
This model is equipped with a removable stainless steel tray beneath the board. Among other things, it enables you to store these cooking juices in a single container. You can also turn the board upside down, cut the vegetables and use it to collect the cut vegetables.
Its double-sided design is particularly practical for avoiding cross-contamination. Cut the vegetables on the side without a channel, for example, and the meat on the side with a channel.
Last but not least, we can't overlook its attractive aesthetic appeal. The warmth of the wood and its perfect finish will undoubtedly add cachet to this board!
The historical anecdote: It was in his blacksmith's workshop that founder Conrad Boos first invented what was to become the original Boos Block®. After harvesting maple in wooded areas of Illinois, and processing it in his sawmill, Conrad brought it to his blacksmith's shop to make a three-legged block, intended simply to block the impact of the blacksmith's hammer against the anvil. It was the local butcher who, after seeing and admiring Conrad's block, asked him to make one for his butcher's work. And that's how Boos Blocks got its start in the butcher's block and plank market!
