Boos Blocks boards are renowned the world over, adopted by many chefs and passionate cooks. Their high quality allows you to work comfortably in your kitchen. In over 125 years of experience, Boos Blocks has developed a unique know-how.
This board is made from maple wood from a wooded region of America: Illinois. It's a very strong, soft wood that won't damage the cutting edge of your blades. Its large size and thickness, which allow you to cut large pieces of meat, reinforce its solidity, which is ideal for meat cutting. What's more, the deep gutter running along its surface will allow you to collect the cooking juices.
Prep Masters collection boards feature a removable stainless steel tray. It has a dual function: to collect cooking juices, or to collect cut vegetables.
Reversible, it avoids cross-contamination, since you can use one side for a specific food, and the other for another (meat, vegetables...).
Note that Boos Blocks is certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), an environmental label ensuring that wood production complies with sustainable forest management rules (to avoid today's highly intensive deforestation).
How did Boos Blocks come about? It was in his blacksmith's workshop that founder Conrad Boos first invented what would become the original Boos Block®. After harvesting maple in the Great Lakes region of North America, then processing it in his sawmill, Conrad turned it into a three-legged block, intended simply to block the impact of the blacksmith's hammer against the anvil. It was the local butcher who, after seeing and admiring Conrad's block, asked him to make one for his butcher's work. And so Boos Blocks was born, and began creating butcher's boards and logs!
