Discover 100 years of French know-how with Chabret cutting boards.
Since 1885, the Chabret workshops have been making exceptional kitchen logs in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château (Loire). This century of experience has resulted in a line of products remarkable for both their quality of construction and their design.
It all begins with the "careful selection of wood" for these cutting boards in the forests of the Jura. Then it's on to manufacturing, using a process that has been tried and tested for 100 years. Using "end grain" wood, i.e. cut perpendicular to the trunk fibers, the craftsmen at the Chabret workshops produce a set of cobblestones. These are then hand-assembled one by one to create the cutting board, which is then oiled.
Thanks to this method, the shocks and blows of the blade during cutting are applied directly in the direction of the fiber. As a result, the worktop cannot chip or break. It remains smooth, even after intensive use. It is then encased in a solid hornbeam frame, itself reinforced by 4 precision-fitted stainless steel brackets.
And the reward for all the care and know-how incorporated into these logs is impeccable quality in every respect. Robust, your cutting surface will stand the test of time. Made to NF food hygiene standards, it will always remain smooth and healthy.
It's this know-how and the care taken in production that have earned the Chabret workshops the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label and membership of the Ateliers d'Art de France. Alain Ducasse uses Chabret in his kitchens around the world, and Hugo Desnoyer has equipped his butcher's shop in the 16th arrondissement of Paris with Chabret. So much so, in fact, that these products were even brought to light on the small screen in a famous cooking show!
And while it stands out for its sturdiness, the aesthetic aspect is not to be outdone. The nobility of the wood combined with careful construction and finishing give Chabret products a timeless lustre, blending harmoniously into a modern kitchen as well as a more rustic environment.
Care instructions :
If wood is not regularly nourished, it has a tendency to warp: as wood works, it shrinks and expands under the effect of humidity and temperature, eventually causing cracks. To avoid this, this type of high-end board needs to be maintained with mineral oil or special waxes. After each wash, dry the board with a cloth. Once dry, coat with cutting-board oil and rub with a cloth or paper towel. Ideally, oil the board until it no longer absorbs oil. We recommend oiling the board once a week.
