The Forge de Laguiole folding knife with juniper wood handle is a unique and exceptional item!
Laguiole knives are true symbols of quality and tradition. Backed by passionate, 100% French craftsmen, Laguiole's expertise stands out in a highly competitive global cutlery market. Despite this, the Forge de Laguiole company has chosen to maintain the manufacture of its knife ranges in the heart of Aveyron, affirming its commitment to its roots and region of origin.
Laguiole knives are emblematic of a heritage recognized by UNESCO, attesting to the anchoring of Aveyron's cutlery-making tradition in the history of cutlery. In 2007, the Forge de Laguiole factory was awarded the prestigious "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (Living Heritage Company) label. This is due to the presence of talented craftsmen who perpetuate ancestral and regional production techniques to create unique and authentic objects.
The Laguiole knife blade is made from French T12 semi stainless steel. This hot-rolled steel offers an optimal balance between carbon steel and stainless steel thanks to its carbon and chromium composition. Its very fine grain structure gives it many advantages, such as exceptional cutting quality, long cutting edge durability, good resistance to oxidation, and ease of sharpening and polishing. With a hardness of up to 54/56HRC on the Rockwell scale, the blade is also easy to sharpen. Last but not least, its satin finish adds an appreciable touch of aestheticism to the whole.
The Laguiole knife's handle is made from juniper wood. This species is renowned for its robustness and variable color, ranging from brown to yellow. The handle is varnished, giving it perfect elegance and increasing its resistance to wear. It is also adorned with guilloche, a chasing of wavy lines and strokes that intertwine on the spring of the folding knife, adding a touch of sophistication. Finally, at the end of the handle is the emblematic bee, one of the distinctive symbols of original Forge de Laguiole knives.
This Laguiole knife also features two steel bolsters to complete the piece. The first bolster joins the blade to the handle. The second, located at the end of the handle, offers additional protection to the knife, adding to its durability and aesthetic appeal.
Most of the materials used in the manufacture of Laguiole knives are of natural origin. Their appearance (color, veining, grain) may vary from one piece to another.
Important when opening and closing the knife: you need to accompany the blade when you want to open or close it. Don't let the blade "snap", as it could be damaged by speed.
