Aveyronnais know-how with this Forge de Laguiole folding knife!
Laguiole knives are a blend of quality and tradition. Laguiole is not just a name, it's also a remarkable expertise! It's carried on by passionate professionals, 100% French! At a time of ever-increasing global competition, even in cutlery, Forge de Laguiole has chosen to develop and produce its knife ranges in the heart of Aveyron.
Forges de Laguiole knives are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which just goes to show how deeply rooted the Aveyron cutlery tradition is in the region! In 2007, the company was awarded the"Entreprise du Patrimoine Label" label, thanks to its craftsmen's dedication to using ancestral and regional production techniques.
On the one hand, the blade is made of French T12 semi-stainless steel, a hot-rolled steel that offers a good alternative between carbon steel and all-stainless steel, thanks to its balance of chromium and carbon. Structured from very fine grains, this steel offers several advantages: excellent cutting quality, long-lasting blade edge, good resistance to oxidation, easy sharpening and polishing. The result is a hardness of 54/56 HRC on the Rockwell scale for easy sharpening. The blade is satin-finished for a pleasing finish.
The handle is made of compressed fabric, a composite material obtained from dyed fabric and resin. This material is both resistant and waterproof. The handle is accompanied by guilloché, a goldsmith's work consisting of wavy lines and strokes that intertwine on the spring of the folding knife. This motif is completed by the bee, one of the symbols of an Original Forge de Laguiole knife.
Finally, this knife features two steel bolsters at each end. The first joins the blade to the handle. The second, located at the end of the handle, provides additional protection for the knife, making it less fragile.
As most of the materials used in the manufacture of Laguiole knives are of natural origin, their appearance (color, veining, grain) is likely to vary from one piece to another.
Important when opening and closing the knife: you must accompany the blade when opening and closing it. Don't let the blade "snap", as it could be damaged by speed.
